Top 5 wedding food trends for 2024

Banquets

Banquet dining is becoming one of the bigger food trends of 2024, over taking plated/alternate drop style dining. The trends around weddings have shifted from being a formal event to becoming far more relaxed and focused on connection.

Banquet share plates are served down the centre of the table, giving guests the opportunity to serve themselves portion sizes, proteins and vegetables that they know they will enjoy. This not only makes the experience more enjoyable for the guests but also results in less food wastage, as guests are serving themselves food they know they will enjoy.

This style of dining is relaxed and informal with guests sharing plates around, creating up more opportunity to connect and have conversations over an elaborate spread of delicious foods. Banquets are ideal for those who value togetherness and relaxed dining.

Recovery Brunches

Recovery day brunches are becoming a hot trend and one all your guests will thank you for. There’s nothing better than rolling out of bed after a big night and being greeted with a spread of beautiful food, all provided for you.

People are often looking to get married in more remote locations or at private residences, which creates a beautiful atmosphere but does limit access to places to get a good meal. Having your caterer cooking for the wedding day and recovery lunch is a great way to ensure all your guests are well fed and looked after.

Pre-wedding dinners

Similar to recovery brunches, pre-wedding dinners are becoming more popular to with the rise of remote weddings and weddings on private properties. After you and your guests have traveled to the location of the venue, the last thing you want to do is prepare a meal and worry about everyone being full.

You can organise for your caterer to host a pre-wedding dinner for you and your guests. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to spend extra time with your guests and means there’s less time spent on the wedding day trying to get to everyone. Pre-wedding diners create a relaxed introduction to the wedding day and starts things off with good vibes and full bellies.

For the ultimate foodies, your caterer can offer a pre-wedding dinner, wedding day catering and recovery brunch.

Themed Cuisines

Another trend that we’ve seen on the rise in 2024 is themed cuisines to match an overall wedding theme. With the rise of Italian inspired weddings, the use of citrus, fresh fruit, rosemary and olive branches are being seen more and more as decorations on table-scapes and around the venue. Pops of bright colours and more bold pattern are also on the rise. This trend has definitely been driven by peoples desire to break away from the more neutral palettes we were seeing through the last few years. Couples are wanting to inject more colour and fun into their special day.

Accompanying these design themes we are seeing a rise in catering requests for food to match. We have produced Italian style banquets, Italian inspired canapés and Italian plated main course meals. This infusion of Italian flavours and ingredients has become a massive trend of 2024. We believe this trend has been partially influenced by peoples greater understanding of the benefits of using fresh local produce. Italian food has always placed an emphasis on creating food from scratch with the freshest ingredients on offer.

Late night snacks

The concept of a late night snack isn’t new to the world of weddings but we are seeing more people opting for delicious comfort food to keep guests fuelled to dance the night away.

We’ve all had a late night out and stumbled home with the burning desire to eat something delicious, this is usually done on the kitchen floor with laughter and stories from the night being shared. Similarly, after a full day of activities and dancing you and your guests are often looking for something to snack on at the end of the night.

We are creating grazing dessert tables for late night snacks that we put out right at the end of our service. Giving guests the opportunity to graze to their hearts content.
