Top 5 outdoor catering locations in new South Wales

I’m lucky enough to live in Newcastle, 2 hours north of Sydney, where there is an abundance of natural beauty from the coast to the Hunter Valley. I also have the privilege of travelling extensively throughout NSW and beyond. I get asked all the time for suggestions on where to have a unique and private event amongst the treetops, or by the beach. Here are my top 5 magical locations for your elopement, wedding or special event.

Being outdoors is perfect for work functions. Have you been cooped up inside all year long? Celebrate your Christmas function in a more unique way.

01

Let’s start with one nice & close to home, Stockton Sand Dunes.

I was lucky enough to cater a styled photo shoot on Stockton Beach with the Anteloping team. We set up a mock ceremony amongst the dunes & then led the couple to a stunning reception location styled by Ash (Film & Foliage) where I put together a multi-course banquet spread cooked over a fire on a single trestle table! Stockton Dunes are only half an hour north of Newcastle and are a playground for 4x4 lovers, hosting incredible beach fishing, sand boarding, a fishing village, quad bike tours & some epic waves.

02

Minyon Falls, Bangalow

Minyon Falls cascade roughly 100 metres, falling into a deep palm-shaped gorge below. The cliff tops are lined with Australian Eucalypts which overlook the waterfall & rainforest. All be it a slight trek, the base of the falls host a gorgeous natural pool that is perfect for taking a dip on a hot day! With a bottle of wine & an Adventure Platter in hand I personally made the walk in and found a comfortable rock to enjoy the wine and the next 2 hours of my day. I have always wanted to cater an intimate elopements with the falls crashing around us!

03

Landslide Lookout, Blue Mountains

Landslide Lookout is a three tiered lookout overlooking the mountains and valleys west of Sydney. I have personally catered in the Blue Mountains MANY times which include 5 cliff side locations. None of which was more spectacular than preparing an intimate elopement meal for 2 guests, less than 4 metres from the edge of a 150m sheer cliff! Emotions & adrenaline were at an all time high for everyone involved!!

04

Sugar Pine Forest, Laurel Hill

Located near Batlow, the Sugar Pine Walk is 550 metres of the most inspiring steps you may ever take! With HUGE pine trees towering over either side of you, their tops meet to form a thick, light proof canopy. The breath taking site is known as the Natural White Cathedral when covered in snow. In terms of a wedding reception, this is a photographers dream!! The perfectly straight lines of trees lead the eye up towards what could be a table, lined with some incredible Wilderness Chef food!

05

Kangaroo Valley, South Coast

Kangaroo Valley is a small town west of Berry, about two hours south of Sydney. The Kangaroo River runs through the valley where countryside & rainforests are full of wildlife. Hampden Bridge, an old Victorian suspension bridge separates the mountains on the north to the time itself. There is a dirt road that winds along the river….this is the spot. What exactly is there? Well, nothing. And that is what makes this spot so magical. The last half an hour of the drive approaching Kangaroo Valley is magical, no matter which direction you are travelling from. Whether it is a camping trip with some friends, a hens/bucks weekend away, am elopement, wedding or a corporate trip, Kangaroo Valley is the perfect location for it!
