Bringing a Wedding Vision to Life at Leaves and Fishes, Lovedale
We recently had the absolute pleasure of being part of a styled wedding shoot at the stunning Leaves and Fishes in Lovedale, right in the heart of the Hunter Valley. The day was all about showing just how magical a wedding can be when you bring together a group of passionate, talented people, each adding their own creative touch.
For us at The Wilderness Chef, it was a chance to do what we love most, crafting food that is so much more than just a meal. We believe every dish should be an experience, a memory, and a way to share a story.
The Hunter Valley is already one of Australia’s most romantic wedding spots, and when you combine that with the right team, something truly special happens. Our role on the day was to match the beautiful setting with flavours that were fresh, seasonal and unforgettable. We created dishes that reflected the quality our couples know us for and showcased how food can complement the mood and styling of the day.
We plated up three of our individually plated entrées and 3 of our individually plated mains from our current seasonal menu, listed below:

Roasted Sweet Potato Stuffed Mushroom, romesco, green apple, charred corn, parmesan, basil & black olive
Roasted Duck Breast, creamed corn, grilled leek, pickled onions, dill & artichoke crisps
BBQ Chorizo, braised tomato lentil ragout, pesto, glazed zucchini & sumac seeds

Roasted Porchetta, caramelised fennel, puree, charred broccolini, cabbage jam, jus & eshallot
Moorish Spiced Lamb, caponata, charred sweet potato, garlic mushrooms, feta & kale crisps
Lebanese Charred Chicken, roasted pumpkin, haloumi, capsicum, cous cous, ranch & almonds
While our heart will always belong to Hunter Valley weddings, we also love creating menus for intimate private dinners, large celebrations and corporate events. This shoot was a lovely reminder of how inspiring it is to work alongside people who share the same passion for bringing a couple’s vision to life.
What made it all the more special was the creative freedom each vendor brought to the table. When couples choose the right team and trust them to work their magic, the results are nothing short of breathtaking.
