Burrata Caprese Salad Recipe with Olive Crumb
This Burrata Caprese Salad is the perfect starter for any occasion… fresh, indulgent, and beautifully simple. It combines creamy burrata, juicy cherry tomatoes, and crunchy olive crumb for texture and flavour. It’s a dish that looks stunning on the table and tastes just as good as it looks.
Ingredients (Serves 4):
2 large burrata balls
250g cherry tomatoes, halved
1 small baguette or sourdough, sliced and toasted
2 tbsp balsamic glaze
2 tbsp olive oil
Fresh basil leaves
4 tbsp olive crumb (store-bought or homemade – see note)
Salt & pepper, to taste
Optional toppings:
Pesto spooned over the top for herbaceous richness
Salty anchovies for an umami twist
Instructions:
Prepare the base: Arrange halved cherry tomatoes on a serving plate. Drizzle lightly with olive oil and balsamic glaze. Season with salt and pepper.
Add the burrata: Place burrata balls in the centre of the tomatoes.
Toast bread: Slice and toast your bread until golden and crispy. Place around or under the burrata as desired.
Sprinkle olive crumb: Generously scatter olive crumb over the burrata and tomatoes for a delicious, crunchy twist.
Add toppings: If desired, spoon over a little pesto or arrange anchovies for extra flavour.
Garnish: Add fresh basil leaves for aroma and colour. Serve immediately.
Tip: Olive crumb can be made by finely chopping olives, mixing with a touch of olive oil, and lightly toasting in a pan or dehydrating in the oven.
Why it works: This salad is fresh, shareable, and can be tailored to your taste. Whether you’re hosting a dinner, serving at an event, or simply enjoying a relaxed meal at home, it’s a premium dish that delivers both flavour and presentation.
