Why We Love Catering Weddings

There’s a lot that goes into catering a wedding.

There are menus to plan, produce to order, prep to organise, vans to pack, kitchens to set up and plenty of moving parts to coordinate on the day.

But despite all of that, there’s a reason we love what we do.

We get to be part of some pretty special days.

We get to meet people at such an important time in their lives

One of our favourite parts of the job actually happens before the wedding day.

We get to meet couples, hear about their plans, talk about the kind of day they’re creating and work with them to put together a menu that feels right for them.

Sometimes we meet couples at a tasting event. Sometimes it’s over the phone or through a few emails before finally putting a face to the name.

Then, when the wedding day arrives, we get to see everything come together.

There’s something pretty cool about that.

We get to see the food being enjoyed

We spend a lot of time thinking about food.

What flavours work together, how something should be cooked, how it should be presented and how we can make it as good as possible.

So seeing a guest take a bite of something we've created and immediately turn to the person next to them with that “you need to try this” look never really gets old.

It’s one of the most rewarding parts of the job.

We love the atmosphere of a wedding

Every wedding has its own energy.

Some are big and lively, with guests moving around, drinks flowing and music playing.

Others are smaller and more intimate, with everyone sitting around a table for hours talking, eating and enjoying each other's company.

We love being part of both.

And we love seeing how the food becomes part of that atmosphere.

A tray of canapés moving through a crowd during cocktail hour can completely change the feel of the afternoon.

A generous banquet spread can get everyone talking around the table.

A beautifully plated meal can create a more considered and refined dining experience.

The food plays a role in how the day feels, and we love that.

There’s something special about feeding a room full of people

This is probably one of the biggest reasons we love wedding catering.

Food is one of the few experiences that everyone at a wedding shares at the same time.

People might spend the afternoon catching up with different groups, wandering around the venue and doing their own thing.

Then dinner arrives.

Everyone sits down, food is placed in front of them and for a little while, the room slows down.

People eat, talk, laugh and take in the atmosphere.

We get to play a small part in creating that moment.

We have a pretty great team

And we couldn't talk about why we love catering weddings without mentioning the people we get to do it with.

There’s something really satisfying about watching a team work together on a busy wedding day.

The chefs are moving through prep and service, front of house are looking after guests and our head chef is keeping an eye on the bigger picture to make sure everything comes together when it needs to.

Everyone has a job to do, and when it all clicks, it’s a great feeling.

We get to be part of people's memories

This is probably the biggest one.

We might only be at a wedding for a few hours, but for the couple and their guests, it’s a day they'll remember for years.

We get to be there for the celebrations, the big laughs, the first course, the dessert, the late-night chats and everything in between.

And when a couple gets in touch afterwards to tell us how much they loved the food or how happy they were with the service, it means a lot.

Because at the end of the day, that's why we do it.

We love good food.

We love working with great people.

We love the buzz of a busy wedding day.

But most of all, we love knowing that the work we do helps create an experience that people will remember.

And that's a pretty good job to have.
